Sleepy Eater

Because I have jaundice, I am always very sleepy, even when I'm eating. With much coaxing, my mom and dad can get me to latch on and start drinking, but then I drift off to sleep. My mom and dad try all kinds of things to wake me up and start drinking again, and this works for a little while, but I always fall asleep quickly.

To make sure that I eat enough, my mom and dad have me eat as much as I can, and then they pump the rest from my mom and feed me it from a bottle. Doctor Tim told them how much I need to eat each day, so they make sure they feed me enough.

Each time I eat, my mom and dad spend about an hour trying to get me to eat from my mom and getting the milk from my mom and trying to keep me awake while feeding it to me. I eat eight times a day, so they spend a lot of time feeding me.

My jaundice will get better soon, and I will wake up more and be able to eat with much less effort.

What's That Smell?

I was hanging out with my mom and dad, waiting for some food from my mom, and I smelled something totally awful. My dad changed my bottom clothes, and everything smelled much better. I think it was the dogs...

Going To The Doctor

I am all dressed up for my visit with Dr. Tim. He checked me out and said I am doing well and just need to keep eating well. He also said it's okay for me to go for walks with my mom and dad - if it's warm enough for them, it's warm enough for me.

Going For A Walk

It is a sunny day today, and not very cold, so we all went for a walk. I was very warm in my carrying pod. I cried a little because it was a strange experience, but all the little bumps feel good.

Sleeping With My Dad

Last night was a long night for all of us. I kept waking up in my carrying pod, wanting to be held. My mom fed me, but I was still uncomfortable in that pod and kept waking up. So, my dad wrapped me up tight in a blanket and laid me in a bassinet. That was better, but I was still uncomfortable and kept waking up. I eventually unwrapped my blanket. My mom fed me again.

We were all so tired and needed a comfortable way to sleep, so after the windows started getting light again, my dad cuddled me in his bed, and we slept soundly for a long time.

Safe At Home

We have arrived at my new home. It is much bigger than my last home at the hospital, which is much bigger than my pod home. All this moving to new homes is exhausting. My dad holds me in my room while I sleep.

Getting Ready to Go Home

My dad is packing everything up in our home at the hospital so we can move to my new home. I am excited, and this new pod I'm in is very comfortable. My hand tastes good too.

Sleeping With My Mom

My mom and I are both very tired. We both fell asleep against each other.

Good Milk Sleep

My mom's milk came in today, and it is incredible! I drank my fill and have been sleeping very peacefully for longer than I ever have.

I'm Beautiful

Everyone who sees me tells me how beautiful I am as soon as they see me. I have never seen myself, though, so I have to take their word for it. I hardly open my eyes, but my aunt Gail caught me with them open and took a picture.

I Like To Sleep

I like to sleep. Here's a picture of me sleeping in my light bed. My mom keeps trying to get me to eat, when all I want to do is sleep. She's nice enough to make it easy for me by squeezing out the nectar so I can lick it off and then go right back to sleep. My dad keeps waking me up, though, so I'll eat more. I just want to sleep.

Diaper Change

My mom held me close and helped me figure out how to eat from her. It was hard at first, but I figured it out pretty quick. It was a lot of work to get a little food, but it was very tasty! After all that, I was ready for a nap.

My dad woke me up and put me in a clear box. I didn't like it very much. He took off my diaper and cleaned me. Finally, he wrapped me up tight in warm blankets, and I was happy again.

My mom has a different type of blood than I do, so I ended up with some jaundice and am spending some time in a bed of light to fix this.

Hello World

It has been a long and rough day for me. It started out fairly normal, with my mom squeezing my pod from time to time, but then she started doing this more often and faster. Then a lot of the water in the pod went away and I started getting squeezed really hard, with my head getting pushed into a really narrow place. My mom squeezed and squeezed me, and I tried to go through the tunnel, but I couldn't get through. It was scary, and I started getting really warm, and my heart was beating very quickly.

My mom stopped squeezing me hard for a little while, but then suddenly a big hole opened up in the side of my pod, and a man pulled me out of the pod and handed me to someone else, who took me to a table. I wasn't breathing on my own, so three people helped me get started and then cleaned me up.

They took me to another room where it was warm, and they did all kinds of things to me - some of them very uncomfortable. Then my dad came in and played with me for a while. Later, we went to see my mom, and she held me against her skin for a while - I love my mom!

Now I am visiting some of the other babies for a while. I'm getting a little hungry, and they say I will be going back to my mom soon.
